With 2021 on the horizon, we see the start of a new year as a chance to better ourselves and better our habits. One avenue people might want to explore in 2021 is how sustainable their choices are in regard to plastic use. With that being said, here are 8 eco-friendly items to help you ditch plastic in 2021.
1 – Bamboo Toothbrushes
With plastic taking hundreds of years to decompose and mostly ending up in landfills or our oceans, a toothbrush made from bamboo is a great swap to consider. Not only is bamboo sustainably grown but it can also be composted within a few months.
2 – Soap and Shampoo Bars
Whilst many of us use liquid soaps and shampoos, little do we know that the actual recycling rates for the plastic containers they’re packaged in are relatively small. The issue is that many people don’t actually realize that the containers can be recycled in the first place.
The solution – moving to bars of soap and shampoo packaged in widely recycled paper and cardboard.
3 – Reusable Coffee Cup
The throwing away of single-use plastic coffee cups reached over 2 billion in the UK last year. Moving to a reusable coffee cup can save over 100 cups a year from going to landfill.

Another single-use item going to waste, makeup wipes are the source of not only major pollution in their creation but also environmental damage as many are flushed down toilets after use.

If you didn’t know by now, plastic is here to stay after it’s been produced. With people often giving their bathroom cosmetic makeovers, a more natural look would be a bamboo soap dish. Not only is it sustainably produced but it can be composted when you’re ready to move on to a new look.
