Dry Eye Sufferers Welcome SunnyBay’s Moist Eye Mask

Best Warming Eye Mask for dry eye – SunnyBay

Warming Eye MaskWith so many of us spending our days staring at computer screens, dry eyes are becoming a more common condition than ever before. New surveys commissioned by associations of Optometrists has revealed that an overwhelming number of Canadians are experiencing symptoms of dry eye. Long mask wear is also causing dry eye. While face masks help reduce the spread of coronavirus the Centre for Ocular Research & Education in Canada have reported many individuals who wear mask regularly are suffering from mask-associated dry eye. If left untreated, dry eye can cause tissue damage and scarring of the sensitive corneal tissues of your eye. This then leads to impaired vision. Medical conditions such as blood pressure medications, antidepressants, glaucoma medications, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and diabetes can all cause dry eye disease.

In addition, people who had eye surgeries, wear contact lenses, take antihistamines to treat allergies, and even those experiencing changes in hormones can all suffer from dry eyes.If your eyes are causing you discomfort and constantly itching, it’s time to start dry eye therapy. For occasional or mild dry eye symptoms, over-the-counter eyedrops (artificial tears) may be beneficial or you can invest in a heated eye mask. Washington-based SunnyBay, a manufacturer and retailer of high-quality pain relief products, have recently launched a moist eye mask for dry eye suffers.

Since it doesn’t contact the inside of the eye directly, it is safer than artificial tears and won’t cause infections. Filled with specially made washable hydra-beads, the filling absorbs the moisture and re-release it back when warmed up. It is clean and very effective in relieving the discomfort from dry eyes.

My Thoughts

Bell's palsy dry eye

Sunny Bay MaskMy oldest daughter has been experiencing dry eyes for seven years now. She was involved in a motor vehicle accident in 2014. As a result she now lives with a traumatic brain injury. Along with many other impairments related to the accident she also has damage to the nerves and muscles in the face, ultimately resulting in Bell’s palsy. Individuals like my daughter with facial palsy frequently experience dry eye. This is caused by lack of tear production in the eyes. While approximately 80 percent of people with Bell’s palsy recover within six months, my daughter is still using eye drops three times to six times a day to help her dry eyes. I read that an eye mask used daily could help clear up blocked oil glands so she is going to give the SunnyBay mask a try. The warmth of the mask will cause the oil glands underneath her eyelids to open up, allowing for natural lubrication of her eyes.

My husband and I tested the SunnyBay mask out for ourself and found the mask to be soft and comfortable. It is actually very relaxing. The strap adjusts well to your head. The heat is just enough and very soothing to. The mask is also useful for migraine headache relief. I will update in a month to give a follow up regarding if it helped with my daughter’s eye dryness. If anything though the mask feels so relaxing and comforting. It is well worth ordering the SunnyBay mask via Amazon!

When you’re ready to use the eye mask, simply put it in the microwave for 30 seconds-2 minutes depending on your microwave. Be sure to carefully follow instructions when using the eye mask. Be careful not to overheat the mask, as this could cause damage to the eye area. It also may be best to speak to an eye doctor before using.

My only con with the mask is I wish SunnyBay would design the cover to be removable, so it could be washed in the machine.

  1. I use eye drops. It does the job but doesn’t last for too long. I am going to order a mask and see if it helps. Thanks
