I ordered a burger served on a sweet potato bun with a side of sweet potato fries. The combination sounded delicious, but unfortunately, the meal did not quite meet my expectations. The sweet potato fries were overcooked and lacked the soft, fluffy texture I was hoping for. The sweet potato bun also became soggy quickly, which made the burger difficult to enjoy.

When I mentioned the issue with the bun, our server was willing to help and replaced it with one of their regular upgraded buns. I appreciated that they took the time to correct the problem, and the replacement bun held up much better.

My daughter enjoyed her meal more than I did and was happy with her choice. The restaurant has a creative menu with plenty of options, and I can see why it is a popular choice for people looking for a casual meal in Montreal.

My daughter chose one of their smoothies, and it was both delicious and beautifully presented. I opted for the homemade fresh lemonade, which was refreshing and perfect for a sightseeing break.

One detail I loved was the unique table with money displayed underneath the glass. It was a creative touch that added personality and charm to the café.

Located in the heart of Old Montreal, Café des Arts is a lovely place to stop for a drink, dessert, or light meal while visiting Bonsecours Market. Even though we did not dine here, we enjoyed discovering this little gem.

Comptoir 400: An Unexpected Montreal Gem

While searching for a place to enjoy lunch in Montreal, we stumbled upon Comptoir 400, located in the heart of Old Montreal at 400 Notre-Dame Street East. It turned out to be one of those unexpected travel discoveries that makes a trip even more memorable.

From the moment we arrived, the service stood out. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and genuinely seemed to care about their guests. We chose to dine inside while the outdoor patio was busy with people enjoying the Montreal atmosphere and warmer weather.

What truly made our visit special was the kindness shown by the staff. During our trip, I was wearing a leg brace because of a knee injury and needed some ice to help with the discomfort. Both our waitress and the bartender went out of their way to bring me ice for my knee. That simple gesture meant so much and showed a level of care and hospitality that is not always easy to find.

For lunch, I ordered the chicken sandwich, while my daughter chose the chicken burger. Both meals were enjoyable and provided a satisfying break while exploring the city.

Comptoir 400 was not a restaurant we had planned to visit, but it became one of those happy travel surprises. With good food, a welcoming atmosphere, and exceptional service, it is a place we would gladly return to the next time we are in Montreal.

During our Montreal visit, Burger Bar Crescent, located at 1465 Crescent Street in downtown Montreal, ended up being one of our favourite dining experiences. After a day of exploring the city, it was the perfect place to enjoy comforting food in a relaxed atmosphere.

While the restaurant is known for its burgers, I decided to try something different and ordered the Baked Macaroni and Cheese made with a five-cheese sauce.

The dish arrived hot from the oven and was packed with cheesy goodness. The sauce was rich and creamy, and the noodles were cooked perfectly al dente, giving the dish a great texture. It was the kind of comforting meal that was especially enjoyable on a rainy Montreal evening.

My daughter ordered one of the burgers and was very happy with her choice. She described it as juicy, flavourful, and cooked just right. After hearing her comments and seeing her enjoy her meal, I could understand why burgers are the restaurant’s specialty.

Of course, we had to try dessert. I ordered the homemade apple crumble served warm with vanilla ice cream and salted caramel. Although it was called an apple crumble, it reminded me more of a warm apple pie because of the soft apples and blend of fall spices. Either way, it was delicious, and the combination of warm dessert, cold ice cream, and salted caramel was the perfect ending to the meal.

My daughter ordered the ice cream sundae, and it was huge. It brought back memories of the classic sundaes from old-fashioned ice cream shops. It was the kind of dessert that feels like an experience rather than just something sweet after dinner.

I ordered the L’AMÉRICAIN, and it was an excellent choice. The meal was beautifully prepared with fresh ingredients and plenty of flavour. The quality of the food stood out, and the generous portion made it a satisfying breakfast to start our day.

My daughter ordered the EGGSPECTATION CRÊPE, which she really enjoyed. The presentation was impressive, and the combination of flavours made it a memorable breakfast choice.

While the food was excellent, the service was what really completed the experience. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed without making us feel rushed.

Some of the best travel memories come from places you never planned to visit. That was exactly our experience with Lulu’s Pasta Bar, located at 1396 Boulevard De Maisonneuve Ouest in downtown Montreal.

We happened to stumble upon this restaurant while exploring the city, and I am so glad we did. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by Zach, who was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to explain how the pasta ordering process worked. He took the time to walk us through the different options, making the experience easy and enjoyable.

Lulu’s offers a create-your-own pasta experience where you choose your pasta, sauce, protein, and toppings. What makes it stand out is that the pasta is made fresh using Italian flour, giving it a wonderful texture and authentic taste.

Both my daughter and I chose the Campanelle pasta, which was the perfect shape for holding onto the sauce. I selected the creamy Rose sauce, which quickly became my favourite. I added tomatoes, cheddar cheese, and hamburger for my protein.

My daughter chose the same pasta and sauce combination but added chicken and spinach.

The portions at Lulu’s are extremely generous. Neither of us could finish our meals because there was simply more food than we had room for. The combination of fresh pasta, quality ingredients, and the ability to customize your meal makes Lulu’s a great value.

One thing I especially loved was that the pasta is served in a cup. It is such a simple idea, but it works perfectly whether you are dining inside or grabbing a meal to enjoy while exploring Montreal.

Lulu’s Pasta Bar was one of those unexpected travel discoveries that ended up being a highlight of our trip. Fresh ingredients, generous portions, a fun concept, and excellent service from Zach made this a restaurant I would happily recommend to anyone looking for a casual but satisfying meal in Montreal.

During our Montreal visit, we wanted to enjoy one special dinner in the heart of Old Montreal, and The Keg Steakhouse + Bar Old Montreal, located at 25 Rue Saint-Paul Est, Montreal, was the perfect choice. Surrounded by the historic charm of Old Montreal, the location created a wonderful atmosphere for an evening meal with my daughter.

Both of us decided to order the 10-inch prime rib steak. I ordered mine cooked medium rare, while my daughter chose medium well. My steak arrived cooked exactly as requested. It was tender, flavourful, and had the rich, satisfying taste you expect from a quality cut of prime rib.

My meal was served with a baked potato, which was the perfect classic pairing for the steak. My daughter chose the garlic potatoes, which added a delicious savoury flavour to her meal. She also enjoyed her steak and was pleased with how it was prepared.

While the food was excellent, what truly elevated our evening was the service. Our waitress, Mégane, was exceptional. She was friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcomed from the moment we sat down. She checked on us throughout the meal, answered our questions, and helped make the evening feel special.

A great restaurant experience is about more than just the food. It is about the atmosphere, the people, and the memories created around the table. Mégane’s kindness and professionalism made this one of the highlights of our Montreal trip.

This historic deli has been serving its famous smoked meat sandwiches for generations and has become a must-visit destination for both locals and tourists. For first-time visitors to Montreal, experiencing these iconic food spots is part of discovering the city’s culture and traditions.

The smoked meat sandwich is exactly what you hope for from a Montreal classic. The tender, flavourful smoked meat is piled high on fresh rye bread, creating a simple yet unforgettable sandwich. Every bite delivers the rich, savoury taste that has made Schwartz’s famous around the world.

My daughter tried the smoked meat poutine, which was a fun twist on another Canadian favourite. The combination of savoury smoked meat, gravy, cheese curds, and crispy fries created a hearty dish full of flavour and a great way to experience two Montreal favourites in one meal.

One thing to keep in mind when visiting Schwartz’s is that there may be a wait, especially during busy times. However, the line is part of the experience, and the history, atmosphere, and tradition surrounding this restaurant make it worth visiting.

I also want to give a very special thank you to Mario, who went above and beyond during our visit. Because I was travelling with a leg brace and cane due to my knee injury, Mario took the time to assist me and make sure I was comfortable. His kindness and willingness to help made our visit even more memorable and showed the true hospitality that makes a place stand out.

La Banquise: A Montreal Poutine Experience That Surprised Me

Before visiting Montreal, one of the foods I was most excited to try was poutine. After hearing so many people recommend La Banquise and describe it as one of the best places in Montreal for this famous dish, I knew we had to visit.

One thing that immediately stood out was the menu. La Banquise offers a huge variety of poutine creations with fun and catchy names. The choices go far beyond traditional poutine, with many different toppings and combinations available.

My daughter ordered the Elvis poutine, which included ground beef, peppers, and mushrooms. She really enjoyed it and liked the added flavours and heartier toppings.

I decided to order the classic poutine because I wanted to experience the traditional version. I was expecting crispy fries, rich gravy, and warm cheese curds that soften and become slightly chewy from the heat.

Unfortunately, my experience did not quite match those expectations. While the fries and gravy were there, I found there was very little cheese curd. The curds also did not soften, warm up, or become chewy, which was the part of the poutine experience I was most looking forward to.

For me, the cheese curds are what make poutine special, so this was the biggest disappointment with my meal.

The service also did not stand out during our visit. Our waitress was not as friendly or welcoming as we had experienced at other Montreal restaurants.

That being said, I am still glad we visited La Banquise. Trying famous local restaurants is part of discovering a city, and everyone’s tastes are different. My daughter enjoyed her Elvis poutine, and the creative menu is something that makes this restaurant unique.
