Popular Zoos to Visit with Your Kids this Summer in Ontario

Jungle Cat World

Jungle Cat World is one of Ontario’s most unique wildlife parks and is a great destination for families who love animals. While the park is best known for its collection of big cats, visitors can also see many other animals, including red foxes, gray wolves, spider monkeys, and more.

One of the highlights of Jungle Cat World is its free-roaming animals. Visitors may meet friendly animals such as donkeys, rabbits, and alpacas while exploring the park. Guests can also purchase corn at the entrance to feed the goats.

The park features a small playground for children and a lookout tower where visitors can observe some of the animals from a different perspective.

For those looking for a special experience, Jungle Cat World offers behind-the-scenes encounters. Visitors can get up close to some of the animals, take photos, and learn more about them from staff members. The experience costs $125 per adult, while children under 12 receive a 50 percent discount when accompanied by a participating adult.

Jungle Cat World also has a gift shop where visitors can purchase souvenirs and a restaurant that serves snacks, drinks, and family-friendly meals.

Toronto Zoo

Another fantastic destination for animal lovers is the Toronto Zoo, one of the largest zoos in Canada. Home to animals from around the world, the zoo features everything from tigers and snow leopards to gorillas and polar bears.

Because the zoo covers a large area, visitors should be prepared for plenty of walking. On hot summer days, bringing water, sunscreen, and comfortable shoes is highly recommended.

As you explore the zoo, you’ll walk along beautiful pathways surrounded by gardens, trees, and animal exhibits. Guests can also ride the Zoomobile to travel between different areas of the zoo. Be sure to look for the impressive polar bear sculpture made entirely from recycled plastic.

When it’s time for a break, the Toronto Zoo offers several restaurants and snack locations. Before leaving, stop by one of the gift shops to browse stuffed animals, clothing, toys, and other souvenirs.

Peterborough Zoo

If you’re looking for an affordable family outing, the Peterborough Zoo is an excellent choice because admission is free. The zoo is home to more than 150 animals representing over 40 species from around the world.

One of the most popular attractions is the miniature train ride, which takes visitors on a tour around the zoo for just $2. Children aged two and under ride for free.

The Peterborough Zoo also features a large playground and splash pad, making it a perfect summer destination for families with younger children. Parents can relax with a coffee from Hatch while the kids enjoy the outdoor play areas.

Visitors will also find a gift shop filled with fun souvenirs to remember their day at the zoo.
