Outdoor Pool

There’s nothing better on a hot day than a beautiful pool, and if you have the space for it, nothing better than going to your own private pool where you can enjoy the peace and quiet (or fun and games) without strangers nearby. Even hotel spa pools have the issue of other people hanging around, which is why so many are looking to invest in their own outdoor pool to beat the heat this summer.

If this sounds like you, up your pool game with these top design tips. Together, we’ll help you design the perfect, spa-like outdoor pool of your dreams.

Consider the Views

If you have a beautiful garden, or, better yet, any sort of view worth looking at, then you need to make that view part of the attraction. A good way to start this is by having a glass pool fence installed. This is an essential safety feature that removes visual barriers, allowing your pool to stay compliant while maintaining that important access to the view itself.

As for design, look to natural materials to bring in the views and natural surroundings in to your pool design. If you have a lakefront property, for example, using stones from the area and planting native plants closer to your property is a great way to blend your pool into the natural oasis where you live.

Alternatively, Create a Beautiful Frame

If you’re in the city and the only views you have to boast of are your neighbours, it’s important to consider how you frame your pool. You can use natural barriers like trees and bushes to add privacy to the space. You can also use verandas or even build a privacy wall with luxury materials like stone to block out the view of your neighbours and add engaging interest to your spa-like, at-home escape. For best results, consider using a layered landscaping approach to really create a beautiful, interesting, and private outdoor space for yourself.

Zone Your Pool

Your pool should have a few different zones, including a shallow shelf designed specifically to lounge around in the pool in a waterproof deck chair. You may also be interested in adding a shallow area with seats for deeper water sitting, a dive area, or even a jet-pool for some massage action. Zoning your pool will allow you to use it to its fullest, and, with 2025 one of the three hottest years on record, it’s more important than ever that we can keep cool throughout the summer, whether that’s by hanging out in a water lounger, or diving deep to cool down.

Invest in Quality Furniture

Any worthwhile spa hotel will offer high-quality lounging and dining furniture to complete your spa experience. Investing in good-quality items and splurging on soft textiles (and the waterproofed and sealed chests to store them in) is going to make a huge difference to your pool experience.

Go Beyond the Pool

On top of a pool, you’ll also want to consider adding patio space for an outdoor dining or living area. You may also want to look into adding an outdoor cooking station, like a built-in barbecue, to add to that luxury experience and give you every opportunity to hang out poolside throughout the summer.
