Warnings Writers Caution
Beware of Vendor Pro - VenderPro

Today's Woman Writing Community has received a complain about Vendor Pro. Upon a Google search of the company, there are a large number of results referencing concerns and complaints against the company

Posted: Thu Jun 22, 2006 5:50 pm Post subject: This sounds like a scam to me. Vendor Pro

I just got this email today and it sounds like a real scam. Subject line was "I want to sell your books through our stores." Doesn't sound like an agent I queried, but curiosity caused me to read what they said:

Quote:
I've visited the writers.net website and I think “The Child I Love” book is perfect for our stores. We work hand in hand with the largest stores in the country, plus thousands of small to medium sized specialty businesses stretched across the U.S.. If you want the opportunity to sell your books through major retailers like Barnes and Noble, Borders, Amazon.com, Target, QVC, HSN, etc ...plus the other 51005 gift
stores, 16826 bookstores, and over 24000 mail-order catalogs ...check us out at http://www..VendorPro..com

Sincerely,
Matt Burke

True, I am on writers.net. Not true: "The Child I Love" is not a book. It's a poem. How can they sell a poem as a book? They can't. Website looks very fishy too. So, I went to Literary Research and Evaluation . I can't find the "agency" or the man who signed this email on this site. I'm concerned it that if I say, 1. it's not a book 2. I need more info concerning your company, I'll get a lot of bull. I'm thinking it's best I just delete the email and not give them the time of day. Anyway, if I'm misjudging these people I'll be surprised, but if I'm not wrong about this you all may want to know about this in case you get this email too. I really and truly seems like a scam though.

I had noticed that PMA magazine had written that this company could be beneficial. After many emails and phone conversations, I signed up with them on July 16, 2003 paying with VISA. By October I had not received any inquiries about my books so I contacted them to ask for a refund. They said that they only gave refunds after 1 year and again re-iterated their 100% money-back guarantee. On July 20, 2004 I contacted them for a refund. Not only had I had no sales during the year, I had not received even ONE request for information. Ethan Nelson said they would only give a refund after I had sent them my complete email list of all correspondence for the entire year so that they could be CERTAIN that I was not lying. Their guarantee never said this. It appears they may be trying to capture email addresses. After numerous emails and phone calls to them, I wrote to VISA to report them as a SCAM, however VISA could do nothing as a full year had transpired. Vendor Pro will not respond to any of my calls, letters, or emails." Cyndi says ' Despite the fact that I've already been scammed by VENDOR PRO and am warning every person I know, they still solicit my business using the same "personal email."

Beware Scams to Authors, Artists and Small Businesses

Vendor Pro is an internet scam company that targets authors, artists, musicians, small businesses and others with merchandize for sale on a web site. How they work is that they send you a “personal email” which tells you how much they like your web site and especially your product (and they name your book, CD, or other item by name). They then indicate that they can help you sell it to thousands of catalogs and stores for a fee of approximately $400. And they offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee with full refund. The catch is-they deliver NOTHING and there is NO REFUND of any kind. I have been collecting the emails of numerous people who have been scammed by them. BEWARE! If you receive an email from VENDOR PRO (formerly known as Bulk Works) push that delete button quickly. You’d be better off buying a radio commercial to promote your product or making a charitable donation to a worthy cause. Let’s get rid of these scum bags who are scamming our friends. - Cynthia Brian
