Rose DesRochers Announcement from the CEO and Founder!

Dear, Today's Woman Member, I hope you're enjoying the summer so far! It has been so long since I have sent out a newsletter. You most likely thought Shawn and I fell off the face of the earth. We are still around. Is everyone enjoying this heat?

You may have noticed Today's Woman is kind of quite. I'm guessing it's a slow month due to people going on vacation and enjoying their time off. Entries to the site are always brought down significantly during the summer months.

We would like to congratulate Viola Jaynes on being selected as August's writer of the month.

Poetry Contest

If you are sitting back in your lawn chair, sipping your chilled ice tea why not put your talent to the test and enter our poetry contest. We are looking for poems that promote peace within the world.

Winner will receive a copy of Everything You Need to Know to Write, Publish and Market Your book by Patrika Vaughn.

Entrants may submit up to 2 poems.

Deadline is Aug 31. No e-mail submissions accepted. Please submit it to the site under the poem category contest and follow methods of submission.

We apologize, due to shipping costs this contest is only open to Canadian and US members unless you want to pay for shipping of the book.

If you have an announcement you would like to share with Today's Woman Writing Community members, please send it to me with "Announcement" in the subject line or share it in our forums.

I hope you've been taking time to write or at least finding time to drop by the site.

Enjoy the warm weather and until next time, stay motivated.

Shawn and Rose

Author:John Sammon

Acting jobs have always been hard to come by. Writer's note: This is the second installment of a passage from a book I'm working on (the first snippet is titled Extra Work), that recounts in part my attempts to become a movie actor in the 1970s.

3 - 59 Years Old and Still Laughing... Sort of

Author: Mike Fak

Well another birthday has hit me square in the eye. I’m not sure what it means to be 59 years old since I don’t have enough active brain cells still working to fathom what reaching this age signifies.
