Good Morning,
I'm Sojournerpoet, or just Sojourner P. I live in south central Nebraska, on the Great Plains. I'm 60, married, 2 grown children, no grandchildren, no daughters or sons-in-law. We have one daughter, age 38, who lives in Wisconsin and one son, age 31, who lives here in Nebraska with us. He has a small mobile home on our property and works in a town 14 miles away but is close in case we need him for something. Bless his thoughtfulness.

I've been a regional correspondent for the Hastings Tribune, a daily newspaper, for 20 years this last September. I love my job. I'm self-employed and sub-contracted to the Trib. I cover parts of four counties in south central NE and north central, Kansas. I have often said I like to talk and drive. With this job I get to drive all over parts of two states, I get to snoop in people's business, legally, and I get paid for both. How much more fun could one person have?

My husband and I have been married for 39 years this last December. He was in the Air Force, a Red Horseman. That was the AF's civil engineering unit, or combat construction unit, in Vietnam. He was stationed in Danang, Vietnam during the big Tet offensive in 1968.

I was in the U.S. Navy W.A.V.E.S. My whole family was Navy, with one exception. He went Army. We don't talk about him. My father was Navy in WWI. My oldest brother was Naval Reserve-submariner. The other brother is retired after 24 years as an Air Controlman. He was an E-7, or Chief, when he retired. That is a closed rate. In other words, people in that job don't advance very quickly because there aren't many in the job classification and they don't retire out very fast so places don't open up. However, my brother was the liaison between the U.S. Navy and the FAA for the air lanes, or air ways, in the western seven states for the last four years of his career. He was promoted to that job over a number of ranking officers. We, his family, are not a bit biased or proud over that one. Not A Bit!!!

I also have a sister who was mildly developmentally disabled but it did not stop her from marrying and raising two fine boys, even after her husband died when the boys were in their teens. She then had to learn how to pay the bills, manage the bank and household accounts, pay taxes and all the other business things of life. He had taken care of all of that. She had never so much as written a check. She did it all on her own. We aren't a bit proud of her either. Not Much!

My parents are both dead, having lived to good, old ages. My husband and I are both 60, fat and sassy. I guess that's good enough for now. Hope to get to know you too.
