One of my completed novels that I'm trying to publish, took me around 5 years. That's including the time I first had the idea for the core of the story to the time I completely finished it with "THE END." 
But I don't really feel bad, because Jane Austen took around 7 years for Pride & Prejudice!!
How long did it take for you? |

Mine took about 5 years to publication.
The most time consuming was the never ending proof reading and editing.
The actual writing was easy.
I went POD in the end which was pretty painless. |
