What happened to the thought of women as equals? Why are young women or teenaged girls so eager to please "guys" today. It seems worse than ever and yes I am speaking of the way they dress and act to please or arouse boys. I realize, initially, there is some power in this, but in the end, aren't they just objectifying themselves and do they not end up to being nothing more than a servant or worse... I'm sad for them. As I have a daughter, I'd like her to have more respect for herself and body, but it seems influences are to be all around. And we adult women, mother's, professionals... are we really doing anything to change this? We too, as a culture, spend billions of dollars on products to keep us young and "hot." Nothing wrong with trying to be healthy and well groomed, but c'mon, we all seem to go beyond that. I don't know what to do but wonder if anyone else ever thinks about this. To me it's almost like we need a revolution to save our little girls from this step backwards. Any ideas?

Madonna I wish I had of saw this post earlier. Very well spoken! I agree that today’s youth (female) have little respect for themselves and part of that blame is to be placed on media and yes mothers.

I no longer wear makeup and I don’t fuss so much over the way I look, but I use to. I try to build my daughters self confidence and I’m always telling her that she can stand on her own, but I find it falls on death ears. She can not even explain the need for a male figure in her life herself.

I think it is all important to bring young boys up to respect girls and that is hard to do today with the way women are being exploited.

I do not mind looking nice, do not get me wrong, but I share your sentiments. Another thing I seem to notice is that while these women are wearing things that seem to objectify them, some of them seem to also use their "charms" to get guys in trouble with the law. It is like women want to come across as strong figures, but also do not want to keep away from the "victim box," as I call it, which tends to be filled with girls who are like the above, but yet also want to be in complete control.

I am not saying all women are like this, but I seen it a bit lately and it gives women a bad name. Am I making any sense here?

Sincerely,
TheRadiantSeraphim
