In 1983 Roger White's "One Bird One Cage One Flight" was published by Naturegraph Publishers Inc. in Happy Camp in California. One Bird One Cage One Flight was what he called on the cover a "homage to Emily Dickinson," an opportunity to commune across a century of time with the spirit and the mind of a person who may very well have been the greatest female poetic genius that America and the world has ever produced. This book was for me the best poetic statement on Dickinson. I commend it to readers among the vast literature now available but, of course, to each their own. We all have to work out our own reading packages. -Ron Price, Tasmania. _________________ married for 41 years, a teacher for 35 years and a BahaŽi for 48 years. |

My all time Favourite is Brett Harte ' Her Letter',
I didnt know who Bret Harte was till I discovered a compilation of Poetry in a Secondhand store and was enchanted from the start. I lost the book and couldnt locate the poem at all .After much investigation I finally found it !!!
Imagine my delight when I realised he had also written ' His Answer to Her Letter' and ' Her Last Letter'
Marvolous !!! |

I have to have my breakfast now or is it an early lunch? Will comment later..."a typical man," some might add, like my wife, "ruled by his passions," some might add, like my wife. who knows me better than anyone ever will, unless you follows the school of thought of the British essayist William Hazlitt. To follow this idea one must google for I have to eat. See ya! -Ron _________________ married for 41 years, a teacher for 35 years and a BahaŽi for 48 years. |

| I have to agree Millerk, Emily Dickinson is on my list, also like Khalil Gibran and Carol Ann Duffy, there is a certain edge to her poetry which I like. |

There are so many great poets. Picking a favorite is very difficult. Thomas Gray is currently at the top of my list although my favorite poem "Leonanie" was written by James Whitcomb Riley. _________________ "There are no bad sheep, only bad shepherds" |

I don't read a lot of poetry, but my favourites would be the romantics, Coleridge and Keats. I think that a large factor in their favour for me is association with parts of the English countryside that I love. Coleridge with Devon and Exemoor, and Keats with the English Lake District. I often find poetry difficult to understand but I can easily understand how walking through beautiful peaceful countryside can inspire one to write. _________________ Dave

I should have said Wordsworth rather than Keats!
