Just wanted to share my experiences with publishing through Lulu.
I have published 5 books and 7 ebooks with Lulu, and so far have put one of my books onto their Global Distribution option. ($99US gets you the ISBN and distribution through Ingram). Within 1 month my title was showing up on Amazon, Barnes and Noble and several other online book stores.
At this stage the majority of my books have been sold as E-books through the Lulu site. Printed books have been sold through the the distribution channels. The majority of the printed books I have sold have been the ones which I have bought from Lulu (printed in Spain) and distributed to Christian bookshops in Australia. So far I have moved as high as 2400 on the lulu page ranking, I think I have dropped back to about 2800 today.
To publisize my book 'Christian Investing and Money Management', I did up a flyer, about the author, press release, introduction letter and wholesale price list, which I posted out to all the Australian Christian book stores that I could locate. I have been happy with the responce so far.
I have also go my own website set up, which advertises my property investment books and my christian books. I am getting a lot of traffic through google, when you type 'property investment book' my site is on the first page.
Australian 'Christian Women' magazine have written a review on it which should be out in their next issue in May, and a couple of other magazines and ezines are also going to be doing reviews as well.
I have been happy with the pricing and quality of the Lulu books, but as with any self publishing all the hard legwork for advertising falls upon the author. It is still all a big learning curb for me, but I am enjoying the challange of 'getting it out there'
