I find pets are very theraputic when I am down, or angry etc. I have had cats as pets for 15 years now, owning two and fostering 2 others. I can't have a dog due to being bit by one as a toddler.
Now that I have a cat, I can't imagine living without one. I cnanot have children, so this is what comes next, at least for me.
I love cats. They are very loving, but also independent and yet also know instinctively when I need them. When I cry, she cuddles with me. When I am angry, she meows and bunts me. She always seems to know exactly what I need. I am thankful to have her. She is my baby and I think life without her would be very boring and very lonely.

I have a Jack Russell Terrier (although now they are called Parson's Terriers)named Ruben. He's 8 years old and is not a pet, he's a friend. He is love on four feet. The grand dame of the house is Nellie Belle, our 18 year old Calico cat. She is frail but still feisty and opinionated! I have never been without a pet or two----sometimes more. When our daughters were at home, we had guinea pigs, fish, dogs, cats, hermit crabs, mice, and gerbils! Thankfully, not at the same time.

love1 I have a male that will be 3 in August named Satch and a little girl Sammi who will be 2 in April. They make everyday worth waking up to. I have suffered a form of depression since losing my Mother in 2001 and these babies make life worth living everyday!! Satch is such a gentleman ,I call him a Mr. Cary Grant, sauve and very refined. Sammi on the other hand is a total mess!!! She is so much fun and torments poor Satch. She is always up to something and does not like for me to be out of her sight, if I get up and go in the other room she is on my heels. If I stay out of sight for more than 5 or 10 ninutes Satch will come looking for me.They are my bed buddies, when Satch had to have a knee operation and was gone overnight Sammi and I didn't get any sleep at all! They are really good if I have to leave though and never have I had any problems with that thank goodness. I bought a lovely doggy stroller that has net that zips around so the dogs can't jump out and no one can reach in to them. I bought it so I could take the babies to our antique car shows and what a hit they have made!!Mine are the larger breed of Yorkie ,I bought them thinking they were going to be smaller but what the heck, I am not showing them and there is just more to love!!Guess I had better close this before you are yelling, Enough!!!!

Oh Boy, don't get me started LOL. I have 2 dogs (Daisy and Cookie) 5 cats, all bottle raised (Noel, Frankie, Smokey, Peaches and Gizmo) Gizmo has a hair lip, not to be confused with a hairball. A one eyed black bird (Purty Bird), 2 white doves (Heckle and Jeckle) and a crippled racoon (hit by a car) named Highway.

Sorry to say I have no pets. Unfortunately I've allergies that won't allow it. The funny thing is that I love animals. My wife always kids me about how animals seem to take a liking to me. If we visit someone who has a pet I have to take my medication first but it's strange how they'll come right over to me without any coaxing and either lay by my feet or jump up on my lap . I have had wild doves land on my porch not 5 feet away and actually stay there for awhile before going on their merry way. I once had a squirrel that I use to trade ritz crackers for acorns with but that's another story. Becky, I'd love to hear stories about your pets. Snoopy

LOL Thank you Theolinda. I have always had a soft spot for animals. I was licensed by the state for two years to rehabilitate wildlife and I am still refered by the Animal Emergency Hospital. I have owned or rehabilitated almost every kind of animal you can think of. If people could be as loving, forgiving and appreciative as animals, what a great world this would be. Bless their little hearts.

Oh Paul I am so sorry to hear this, but animals are attracted to kind, loving people. As I know you are. I think if I was alergic to animals I would have to go on shots. They are such a fulfilling part of my life. My husband use to complain about them when we were first married, but now he is almost as bad as I am. When ever I first release a baby bird, squirrel, coon etc., he goes out after dark to check on them LOL I think they call that "Empty nest syndrome".

Oh how I envy you! I love all animals and while we had cattle I was known around our part as the bottle baby lady! If a farmer had a cow that got down or died or just plain would not accept the baby calf they would bring the calf to me for free. I raised one little guy from 55 lbs to 1200 lbs and cried like a child when it was time for him to go. I had to leave home when we sold our cattle off.It just got to expensive to vet, feed and care for them. After they were all gone my husband took out all the gates and tore down the fences.I still ride around starting in March and look at all the new life. I love living in the country, I watch the deer come across our field headed to the Wabash River to drink. What a sight, as many as 8 or 9 at a time.I have 2 cherry trees that the Raccoons love to get in when they ripen so now I have to keep the big dogs on the back porch locked in until daybreak when my husband goes out and shoos the coons out of the tree before the dogs get them.Talk about a three ring circus!!

Hi All , redbud

I have six cats, all rescued, two guinea pigs, four parakeets and a two-year-old West Highland Terrier named Jack.

I say my children are on their own now, so I have pets! Jack, my Westie, I purchased when my life was in great upheaval. Jack was flown from Tulsa Oklahoma up to Montana on Delta Airlines. His companionship has kept me going and made me smile and laugh when there was nothing else to laugh at. Jack is also a Service Dog and can go with me everywhere. When my father had a bowel obstruction I called the hospital he was in for permission, which I didn’t need to do, but felt it was what I should do. They allowed him to go and visit Dad until he could come home. Then my father had his little toe removed and he asked me to come help him, then jokingly said it is not you I want to see, but Jack!!!

When Jack has his Service Dog Vest on, he knows the difference in the way he needs to behave. While shopping whenever I stop, Jack automatically sits which he has been trained to do. His vest has a patch, which says "please ask to pet." Jack loves the attention from other people, especially children. He has been through three obedience classes and does a wonderful job as a Service Dog.

At home, Jack is a normal dog who is loads of fun! Guess you can’t tell how proud I am of him and how special he is to me. He helped me go through the trauma in my life and has filled my life with wonderful companionship and unconditional love.
