Why should we care about what others think of us? We are who we are, regardless of what anyone says about us on the internet, correct? We should not have to walk on eggshelves and allow people to attack us in fear someone will judge us our reactions to such attacks. I stand up for what I believe in and I'm not about to apologize for that. Regardless of what I do, or say someone somewhere on the internet, someone is always going to judge me. I should stop giving a crap what people say, shouldn't I? _________________ Rose DesRochers World Outside My Window|

Rose,
You are absolutely correct; we are who we are. People can judge us, but that does not make their judgment who we really are. You shouldn't care about the "crap" they do and say, because it brings you down. Sometimes we are barraged so much, we forget who and what we are. Because they want to be jerks, just makes them look just like jerks.
After all, we all respect you as I said in another post. We know your kind nature and we see the caring that you have for those of us here at Todays Woman.

If God, the King Almighty, can accept us as we are, seeing our sin and so on, why the heck should we change for anybody?????? I'm a Chritian and I am not going to preach, but I do have to mention God a few times. Of which I won't apologize lol.
I think that if we are happy with who we are and that the God who created us and the beauty of creation loves us with out stains of sin and what not, then why on earth would we have to change to be accepted? I already am accepted by the One who matters most. If people don't like me or approve of me, I really don't care. I like who I am and the areas I do not like, I am working on. If I were to try and please all the people in my life who think I should change, there would need to be about 10 of me. No, I think originality is the best. God created us that which we are. And remember, we are a work in progress, learning and changing everyday. No, I would not change for anybody, unless God personally spoke to me and asked me to.

| Yes, Rose, I believe you should forget what others think of you. You should send them to you know where, because even if you change for the good in their eyes, they will always find something to judge you with. People don't care about others feelings anymore, that part of people was fed to the winds to never come back. We are living in a world that caring and helping others is concider fiction. People don't take in concideration who they are hurting. Why should we care too? In a way we should other wise what world are we trying to save and fight for, but in other hand, are we all fighting for the same world? Is hard not to care, but sometimes is better that we don't, only the thought and the question get us stress. Is a hard world we are living in, and we should care, to make a difference, but the next question is, Why should we?????? |

I was thinking the other day.... When did I become afraid to sing in the street? When did I start imagining what other people thought of me and become embaressed?
It is drilled into most of us by our parents and those around us.... "Don't do that, what will the people around us think?".... "Do you want to look stupid?"..... "You're embaressing me!"..... etc, etc. And so we grow up constantly imagining what people think about us, and thinking that what we imagine is real. We change our actions, we change who we are for fear of what other people will think of us. I'm sure it takes a lot to be able to release that need of considering what other people think.
I don't mean by this that we should do whatever irrelevant of the consequences to others. But, atleast with myself, I find that I act out of what I believe the other person thinks, or wants, or needs. Rather than actualy finding out what they truely think, want and need. _________________ Teal´c : To resist the influence of others, knowledge of oneself is most important. |

The tongue can be one of the deadliest weapons we carry with us everyday and everywhere. Some people wield it like a sword not only to cut down what they see as a threat, but also to use as a shield to deflect others from the truth that they hide behind.
The internet can be a huge shield, because it allows its users to send out forms of abuse on other users, without any emotional attachment.
Using a real example of the extreme: The men who piloted the Enola Gay, that dropped the "Bomb" felt little attachment to what they were sending out, because they just flew a plane real high and pressed a 'send' button when the time was right. They were shielded from the emotional part. It wasn't until later that they saw not just the destruction that it caused but the real people that were permenently changed. That is when the pilot's shield came down and their emotions on the truth behind pressing the 'send' button became real.
It is all to easy to lose that perspective of who we make comments to, because we don't see people face to face, we see a cold piece of machinery with no emotional value. Only in how it is used.
Rose, to answer your question on; should you change. Why would you want to become something you are not? If you are secure in who you are and use your life to become better at who you are and what you do, and use your God given talents to the pleasing of God's will for you, then my dear friend, let yourself not be troubled by those who fall on the sword of their own viciousness. Do not judge lest ye be judged.
Ok my sermon is done

[font=Verdana:ab1a07bf79]The only thing that anyone should ever change.....is themsevles. I think that if you like who you are, then you should just be cool with it. If you have something that you are not liking then change it. The real trick is to realize what to change and when. If you start to feel not happy in your circle, chances are the thing that is out of place is you....in a good way. I see that "I'm feeling out of place" ick in my gut as a sign that its time for me to do some real internal house cleaning and mature. The last time I did it I went from 210 pounds to my current 145...and now its an ick in my gut again and I have realized what it is.....to write consistently and get my novel sold.
I guess really, a healthy way to look at other people judging you is to see if you need to change....or just ignore them. I think that other people should encourage you to grow, not doubt yourself. Cheer up, and don't get down about what some rash person who doesn't know you might have said.
Hugs
