I called a pastor of the largest Pentecostal church where I live about a week and a half ago, asking why it was so hard to get a ride to church. He was snarly with his response and said I had obviously NOT called his church. After informing him that I had, and had not gotten past the secretary, he snarled that I obviously had not talked to him. I reittereated (sp) that I can't get past the secretaries. He took my name and assured me I would have a ride to church. Needless to say, I'm still "churchless." I really dont' care. I've lost all faith in churches per sae. I'd rather stay at home and watch Joel Osteen and Joyce Meyer than attend some church. I've been out of organized churches long enough and have been turned away by every denomination often enough that I really don't care if I set foot in a church again. I'd like to call that pastor back and say, "see, I told you I can't get a ride," burt I know he'd have some sort of snide remark. So, I continue to lead church, as Steve said, and study on my own. I believe God honours intentions of going to church.
My question to all these churches is, what would you say if Jesus asked for a ride?

Sheri,
I'm sorry you've had such bad experiences with finding a church that will give you a ride. You mentioned the church being of Pentecostal denoination, is that your preference?
When my wife left the church I grew (A non denomination community ch then adopted by the UCC) up in about four years ago, we traveled around to many different denominations and non denomination churches. We were finally led to a Christian and Missionary Alliance church, that really stresses reaching out to people in church, around the community, the nation and the world.
We didn't really know anyone there, but in time and becoming part of different groups it has made a big difference in our lives.
Hopefully there are churches around you like this one, that WOULD give you a ride and if Jesus were to ask, he too would be given a ride.
I hope for you in time will be led to a church that reaches out to your needs and makes you feel welcome and then you can become part of a Live and giving church along with your TV community.
Last week I started a new series on the Holy Spirit with the Sr Hi Sunday School class. My hope is to help them understand the nature of God's breath and to become more aware of his presence in their every day lives.
Pray that this series will be Spirit led |

It was Pentecostal I was referring to, but I've also called Anglican, United and Baptist. So, I give up.
I'll continue doing my own "church" at home.
