Oh wow Rose, No, I do not feel
sorry for him now after reading that ! Ok, I usually give anyone the benefit of the doubt but
this guy is sick. I am ashamed he is from the states. One minute talking about God and the next
talking like he was possessed and on an evil mission. So now I believe he did "intentionally" try
to claim the poem "knowing full well" it was not his. |

I have exchanged several emails
with Tommy Collins who claims that the poem Don’t Quit was originally entitled life and it is an
exact copy of the Life poem written by his late Father Frank Collins while in Hospital in
Birmingham In 1952. He said that National Newspapers printed the history of his Father when the
poem was put on display by the Irish Heritage Trust in Bunratty Castle and Folk park Co Clare
Ireland 1997. He said that the Author is Frank Collins and is registered with the Copyright
Association of GB CAE Number 251613298 Membership No A4928.
When asked to provide
proof, he said that he no longer needed to defend his ownership of copyright of the poem. He
instructed me to check with the (PRS) but all I pull up is the Performing Right Society (PRS). He
said that the UK patient office is the wrong place to check CAE numbers associated with the PRS
society of G.B.
I do not believe his story either. Next! _________________ Rose DesRochers World Outside My Window|

There have been several claims of authorship for this poem that is believed to be in the public domain.
Jeff Lief reports that the poem was written by his father Ben Lief in 1929 when he was 19 years old.
Joe David Harrison claims that he wrote the poem.
Gerard Haughey claims that he wrote the poem.
Robert Ellis claims the poem was written by his grandmother Betty Naimo Rich of Wakefield MA.
Tommy Collins claims the poem was written by his father Frank Collins while in hospital in Birmingham In 1952.
George Munchinsky claims that Alice Enzie Zimmerman wrote the poem in 1948 at the age of 15.
Now Kelly Burke claims the poem was written by her mother. _________________ Rose DesRochers World Outside My Window|

Mr. Haughey,
I am going to be as respectful towards you as I possible can. Rose is an extremely loving and devoted to the welfare of all who use this site. We know Rose and I for one hold her in the highest regard. However, I am so very tired of people like you who do all you can to tear her down and make her life miserable. You claim to be someone who has worked in a facility for psychiatric patients, and even posted the poem there. For five years, sixteen years ago, I was in and out of two psychiatric facilities, getting help with childhood abuse. When I read your post, I asked myself this question, were you working there or were you a patient there? Because none of the staff that I have known working in psychiatric facilities, would behave in a manner that you have toward Rose and Eric. I do not say this to be sarcastic, but I say this, because frankly Mr. Haughey for this reason. I feel you are acting in a manner that looks more like someone who would be more likely a patient than a dedicated compassionate person who helps others with emotional problems.
I am asking you to please stop treating our Rose with disrespect and please do not continue with your personal vendetta against her. She is being kind; by letting you have a forum to continue bashing her in what I see is being done in a very unchristian like manner. If you are a Christian, then I have a perfect Christian right, to confront you and hold you accountable for any actions on your part that are not Godly. I suggest some prayer and praise sessions with the Lord, along with some bible reading to put yourself straight with God again. In the mean time, please leave Rose alone, because she does not deserve your cruelty, plagiarism, and unkindness that you are throwing at her. Just stop please?
Yours In Christ,
Merriam |

Hi Rose,
These people just keep coming out of the woodwork don't they? It sure makes me as angry as a grizzly with a chapped bottom; and I said that in politically correct language.
