Painting your nails with fun designs like a candy-cane  is one way to celebrate the festival season.  However, if you have a young daughter like I do that wants to experiment with nail polish then using a non-toxic water-based nail polish such as Snails Nail polish is your best choice.

Snail Nail Polish does not contain: toluene, formaldehyde, dibutylphthalate (DBP), bisphenol A (BPA) or other harmful chemicals. The polish is made of water, acrylic polymer, and nontoxic colorants that won’t damage delicate nails.

SNAILS (Safe Nails!) all started when a mother of two scoured the market for safe non-toxic nail polish to color up the imaginative play of her little ones. She quickly found that such a product just didn’t exist — so SNAILS was born.

I was first introduced to Snail nail polish this past summer by my good friend Rose.  In the above photo I used colors orange and purple on my daughter’s toe nails, which I found to be bright and youthful, with a cute shimmer. Application was smooth, and easy to fix any little messes. The polish takes about three minutes to dry. I was pleasantly surprised with the smell of the polish. Each color had a different soft youthful scent. The polish would be perfect for women with chemical or scent sensitivities.

I was skeptical of the claim that the polish could simply being removed by water and soap, but the polish lived up to it’s claim. I  had applied the polish just before my daughter’s bath. When my daughter finished her bath, I looked down at her nails and to my disbelief all the polish was gone. To appease my daughter I did apply the nail polish again. which our dog licked off, so a 3rd application was made.

Since the polish is water-soluble, it will not stain clothes, carpets or floors, which pleases this mom. All polishes are sold in lead-free Italian glass bottles and retail around $9.00.

If you are looking for a few great stocking stuffers for your daughter, might I suggest  Snails nail polish. Be sure to check out their fun gift sets.

Visit the SNAILS (Safe Nails!) website for more information, including finding a retailer. Some of the polishes are available via amazon.com.
