Hallmark helps dad foster a love of reading

As a stay at home mom I was fortunate to have plenty of time to interact and develop strong bonds with my children when they were young. However for my husband, who was the non stay at home parent it was often challenging to find the same time to bond. One way my husband bonded with my children was through reading. Both my children looked forward to that time together with their dad when he read to them at night.

Reading to children allows dad a chance to sit down fully focused on his child without any interruptions. Hallmark has some wonderful ways for dad to bond with his child this father’s day.

First up: Hallmark’s popular library of Recordable Storybooks allows dad and child to bring story time to life. Escape on an adventure with Lightning McQueen in Lightning McQueen and his Winning Team. Recordable Storybooks from Hallmark feature exclusive voice-capture technology that enables you to record each page of the book and have it played back over and over as your child turns the pages. If your kids love the Disney original Cars, they’ll love this book about the movie’s own Lightning McQueen and friends, who are special in their own ways.

Hallmark currently has 23 Recordable Storybook titles available featuring both Hallmark original stories and literary favorites, plus a selection of titles available for the Christmas season.

This is a great idea for father’s stationed overseas in the military.

Story Buddies

This clever little talking raccoon will steal both dad and child’s heart as he comes to life when dad reads key words aloud from his books. See if you and your child can solve the case with Watson in Watson and the Case of the Sneaky Stealer. Simply press Watson’s ear to begin. Read the story aloud in a quiet place. Speak in a clear voice when you see the highlighted phrases. Listen as Watson chimes in with several different sounds throughout the book.

Watson has a few books to collect, and also a few friends such as Nugget the puppy, Christopher the bear, and Abigail the bunny, Cooper, and Bigsby, too!.

Watson is also great for the class room. A teacher that I know uses Interactive storybooks and interactive story buddies in her classroom to foster a love of reading with her children. I think the interactive story buddies are a wonderful idea and they appear to work well with children.

An estimated 93 million cards are exchanged on Father’s Day, according to Hallmark. If you haven’t bought a Father’s Day card for the dad or grandpa in your life, Hallmark has some superhero-themed cards that just might suit.
