Backstage at London Fashion Week with Sam McNightPosted on Wednesday, October 05 @ 00:42:17 CDT | Topic: Beauty The Show: Mary Katrantzou SS/12 The backstage scene at Mary Katrantzou, with girl's waffling around like
exotic creatures in Mary's vivid colored floral and underwater
photographic prints provided the perfect inspiration for the hair look this
season. The show theme; Nature vs natural, which promoted Pante Pro-V Global
Ambassador Sam Mcnight to create a naive, childlike floaty style that tapped
into the floaty, colorful, watery mood. “When we saw Mary’s collection we knew that with such rich detail, it was important to keep the hair simple,” says Sam who devised a low ponytail tail (a key trend this season) with hair all around the hairline left loose so that it floated as the girls walked. “The lighting on the catwalk is daylight,” says Sam, “So we wanted to create this light, halo-like effect with the hair.” ![]() The look: Urban Flowerchild Get the look: Key to the look is freshly washed and conditioned hair to bring out the shine and brilliance of each girl's coloured hair. Sam's team used Pantene Pro-V Colour Protect & Volume Shampoo and Conditioner to achieve a perfectly clean, healthy base before blow drying. Next, Sam misted over Pantene Pro-V Classic Hairspray to provide 'bite' to prevent the hair from being too slippery. The hair was then gathered into a ponytail, held low on the nape of the neck, ensuring that a fine veil of hair around the hairline was left loose. A light mist of Pantene Pro-V Classic Hairspray held the style in place without weighing it down. Mary said of the look; ”This season it’s about fusing the toughness of metals with the softness of nature. Sam wanted the hair look to remain soft and floaty which is the first time we’ve done this, as it complemented the harder colours on the model’s lips and the contrasts in the collection perfectly.”
