Valentine’s Day Greeting card trends & Gift Ideas
Sending greeting cards to friends and family is a tradition that goes back about 200 years. According to the Greeting Card Association, an estimated 1 billion Valentine’s Day cards are sent each year, (not including packaged kids’ valentines for classroom exchanges), making Valentine’s Day the second most popular card-sending holiday after Christmas.
Hallmark first offered Valentine’s Day cards in 1913 and began producing them in 1916. Valentines pre-date Hallmark were among the first types of cards the company offered. A fire in 1915 destroyed the company’s inventory of Valentine postcards leading to the purchase of printing equipment so Hall Bros. (which later became Hallmark) could begin creating its own Valentines.
Today, Hallmark creates more than 1,400 Valentine’s Day greeting card designs.
Valentine’s Day Greetings for Kids:
When we think of Valentine’s Day, we generally think of Valentine’s Day as a time for romance…a chance to tell our sweethearts how much they mean to us . While that’s certainly true, love comes in many forms. Half of the Valentine’s Day cards sent each year are actually sent to children. To help us celebrate the little loved ones in their lives, Hallmark introduces “Special Delivery Card Presenters for Kids.”
These cute critters and characters have Valentine messages tucked inside. After your child removes the valentine, he or she can keep this little friend around to store little reminders of how much they’re loved. Characters available include Winnie the Pooh, Spider-Man , Snoopy and Minnie Mouse, along with other cute critters. The 3-D quality and furry touch of these cards make them an instant hit with children.
Hallmark makes it easy for consumers to give a Valentine’s Day card as unique as their valentine. For more information about Hallmark Valentine’s Day cards, visit Hallmark.com.
Finding just the right greeting card and gift is an important step to a successful Valentine’s Day. Hallmark understands that and along with their wide selection of greeting cards they have a wide selection of gift ideas for Valentine’s Day 2013.
We happen to favor the Until We Hug Again Plush bear & bunny. Press their paw to record a personal message, then when the plush is hugged, the child will hear a loved one’s voice over and over again. These huggable plush animals are not just great for children, but they are also perfect for seniors in nursing homes. With Hallmark’s Voice-Save™ technology, messages are safe—even if the batteries begin to fade. Not only would the the Until We Hug Again Plush bear & bunny make a great Valentine Day gift, but they would make a great gift for a new baby. I plan to give the bunny to my granddaughter who will be born in 3 weeks.
