Give a gift from Talented Artisans Worldwide
Novica is a mission-driven website associated with National Geographic working with thousands of talented artisans around the world.
They offer unique, one-of-a-kind products that range from handmade jewelry to vases, wall decor and handmade furniture.
These products are sourced from countries and regions around the globe. Artisans are found in West Africa, Mexico, Thailand, Bali, Peru, and Brazil just to name a few.
The item that I chose for this review comes all the way from Bali.
About the artist: “Pande Made Anom was born in a village well known for many types of woodwork. He studied and practiced wood carving ever since secondary school, under the guidance of his uncle who taught him how to carve, sand, finish, and generally convey an animal’s anatomy, movement and profile.
Pande’s favorite themes are the eagle and owl, predators with sharp eyes able to see their prey from distant places. Pande says, “It’s a pleasure to be able to preserve such a rare animal in the form of a carving. Animal statuettes are a great alternative, rather than endangering an animal’s life by locking them up in a cage.”
The “Powerful Eagle” made by Pande Made Anom measures 7.9″ H x 5.9″ W x 4.3″ D. It is hand crafted out of Suar wood. Just one look at this sculpture and you can see the detail that has gone into it. Everyone we have shown it to astounded by the craftsmanship that went into creating it. A photo really does not do this justice. Pande has remarkable talent and takes great pride in his work. We absolutely love the Eagle Sculpture and feel blessed to have such an item from a skilled artisan in our home.
With 2000 extraordinary master artists around the world and over 30,000 exquisite works of art including corporate gifts, handmade jewelry, home decor, and other fine collectibles–Novica has something for everyone.
The website is extremely easy to navigate. Narrow products down by product type, region, artist and targeted price range.
